Minneapolis, Minn. — Minneapolis City SC is proud to announce its newest intake of development players, a class of players fully supported by the generosity of club members and financial supporters, and a group already double this size of last year’s class.
Ramone McKeithan. A goalkeeper for South High School, signing McKeithan gives him an opportunity to play beyond U18 Premier, an opportunity he otherwise wouldn’t have, and keeps us connected to The Barnyard.
“Ramone is an incredibly hard worker on and off the field and there is no doubt that he will rise to the higher level of competition and learn a lot from how Matt Elder and Duncan Werling bring it day in and day out,” said Sporting Director Jon Bisswurm.
Jimmy Farah. The DeLaSalle junior is no stranger to head coach Adam Pribyl, and he earned his spot by playing beyond his age in the winter invitational sessions and hasn’t looked back.
Farah commented “joining an NPSL team’s system means challenging myself against much older and more experienced guys, which will greatly augment my growth as a player.”
“Jimmy is the youngest player we have tossed our with the first team and he held his own, showing the pace and nose for going forward that we look for in a winger. Believe it or not, City may have found Goose 2.0. He is one for the future,” commented Bisswurm.
Abdi Kadi. The Washburn man will be heading to Eastern Illinois in the fall of 2017, and he earned his spot with City by showing well in the first open tryout.
“I want to play professionally in the future so playing NPSL could help me get a step closer to my dream, and there is nothing better than representing your city” said Kadi.
“His vision and possession style of play is something we look for in a central player. After playing with us, he will be in the perfect position to minimize the jump to the college game” said Bisswurm.
“The generosity of our supporters is just incredible” said Managing Director Dan Hoedeman. “Their financial support or our efforts coupled with our partnership with Stegman’s Soccer Club allows us to give opportunities to even more players, regardless of ability to pay, and I can’t wait to announce them too.”
