Minneapolis, Minn — The club are proud to announce that midfield tyro AJ Albers has signed with Minneapolis City. The central midfielder just finished his fourth season at the University of New Hampshire, where he started 46 of 56 games and will add steel and guile in the center of the park.

Head coach Keith Keicker commented “AJ has incredible athleticism and technical ability…and is an exceptional all around player who controls the center of the field.”

Albers grew up in Eagan and played youth soccer for Minnesota Thunder Academy and high school ball at Eagan High School, where he was All-State and All-Metro first team in 2011.

“We are excited to have AJ in the club” said Dan Hoedeman, City’s Managing Director. “Yet another hugely talented Minnesotan with a ton of playing options has chosen City, and I can’t wait to see him pulling strings in the midfield.”

“Right off the bat I felt that the coaching staff and the organization here were first rate, very experienced and that they are truly putting together a special club here” said Albers.

The midfielder continued, “based on all the previous signings and the talent pool still available, there will be a handful of amazing players coming together to make a hard team to beat and also an exciting team to play for.”

AJ Albers is Minneapolis City’s ninth first team signing so far as the team gears up for its inaugural season, which kicks off in Milwaukee on May 21 against Bavarian Soccer Club.
