Minneapolis, Minn. — The first league game isn’t until May 21, but that didn’t stop Minneapolis City SC from launching a throwback logo and kit design, to be worn for cup matches this season and beyond.
“Couldn’t be happier with how this turned out” said Managing Director Dan Hoedeman. “Almost didn’t put it on the internet so we could remain criticism-free.”
Designed by Minneapolis native Matthew Wolff, a designer whose portfolio includes New York City FC and Los Angeles FC, the logo was inspired by the old Minnesota Kicks script, the colors make sense for a city literally named ‘the water city’, and works off of a design by kitmaker Impact Prowear that includes actual ties at the top of the shirt because throwback.
Hoedeman continued “we are a community club and love that designers from Minneapolis like Matthew are up for creating such incredible work for us. The city has been behind us, and we can’t wait to wear these–hopefully in the US Open Cup next season.”
Replica shirts will be available for order from Impact Prowear in the coming weeks.
