Minneapolis, MN — Minneapolis City are proud to announce the signing of Woodbury, MN native and former Minnesota United standout Brian Kallman.
Kallman made 153 appearances for Minnesota Thunder/Stars/United across all competitions from 2006 to 2015, and was an integral part of the side that won the 2011 Soccer Bowl and made the 2012 Soccer Bowl final.
“Brian is a great player” said Sporting Director Jon Bisswurm “and he brings a level of experience that will help our younger players. There is nothing like training with and learning from a guy who knows what it takes to make it as a pro.”
With the signing of Kallman in addition to former Tampa Bay Rowdies midfielder Dan O’Brien, Minneapolis City have added their second NASL veteran as the club prepares for its inaugural season in the NPSL.
“We made a specific decision to bring in guys who have made it at the pro level” continued Bisswurm “to give our team a blend of youth and experience and to create a high performance environment in training, in games, and off the pitch. [Kallman and O’Brien] will be invaluable for our younger guys to learn from, and it doesn’t suck to have players on their ability in the team.”
“We have a very strong core group signed” said head coach Adam Pribyl. “We still have more signings to make and an open tryout in February to identify new talent, so more to come, but I couldn’t be happier with where we are at the moment.”
