“The ambitious and exciting culture of Minneapolis City SC truly begins at the open tryout.

From the get go, you can sense that everyone wants to make an impact. From the players trying to prove they are the next big thing, to the coaches trying to prove they can win the title. The passion to be the best is unmatched.

Open tryouts provided the perfect platform to showcase my playing abilities against other participants and current City players. This allowed me to start learning how to play with what would be my fellow teammates in a few weeks.

Over the course of two hours you are given the chance to outplay, outwork, and outmatch the other participants. That task should be an exciting undertaking for any soccer player.

Furthermore, the open tryout offers you the opportunity to compare yourself to some of the best talent in the state. Whether your training next to an ex-professional or Division 1 soccer player, you may never get an opportunity to play next to such talent anywhere else.

After being selected to City, it felt as if a new door had opened up in my career; a dream come true. Even after having a thrilling college season, I was excited to fill my summer with Friday night lights, the Citizens’ chants, and local soccer.”
