Completing a flurry of announcements, Mpls City is excited to introduce Jeremy Handler as the club’s new U23 head coach.
Handler joins the club with an impressive coaching resume tuned toward player development. He has had assistant coach roles with the Augsburg University men’s team and the Hamline women’s team and is currently a Development Academy Apprentice Coach with Minnesota United. He does have NPSL experience as well after a short stint as an assistant coach with Minnesota TwinStars.
“Jeremy is a talented coach with an extremely bright future in the sport. As we underwent interviews for coaches, it became clear that Jeremy was passionate about what Minneapolis City is doing, and his style fits well with the coaching staff” said Athletics Director Adam Pribyl.
Pribyl continued, “he knows the game well, is organized, and is a worker. I think the U23s will really benefit from working with Jeremy, as will the rest of the coaching staff.”
Last season, the U23 team racked up an impressive series of results playing an independent season, including wins over Granite City of the UPSL and Milwaukee Bavarians U23.
“I can’t wait to see Jeremy start working with these guys” said club President Dan Hoedeman “if last year is any indication, there is a hunger there from the players to compete, to improve, to get to the next level. And in Jeremy those players will someone who will help them elevate.”
