Minneapolis City SC and the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board are working together to amp up free play opportunities for kids.

Minneapolis City and Minneapolis Parks and Rec has secured the space and will keep it open (for free) for anyone to stop by, and we’ll “roll out the balls”–literally, as we’ll be bringing a grip of soccer balls for free play use–for kids to use at the soccer fields Mondays and Wednesdays 11:00am – 4:00pm in June and July.

“We’re thrilled to have secured field space and make it available for kids in the community.  We’ll plan some fun days and we hope to get kids out and playing this summer” said Sarah Schreier, the club’s Director of Operations. “It’s a good thing for our community, our neighbors, and our club, and we’re proud to have Minneapolis Parks and Rec in our community.”

Throughout the summer, players, staff, and coaches will pop up at the park to get involved in the kick arounds, have contests (crossbar challenge, anyone?) and giveaways.

“We’re so excited to launch this program with City. We can’t wait to get started,” said Matt Bell, Recreation Lead at Minneapolis Park & Rec.
