Midfielder Luke Haakenson, who featured for Minneapolis City in both the 2016 and the 2019 seasons, was taken today by Nashville SC in the fourth round of the MLS SuperDraft. The Maple Grove native is the second Crow, after Brandon Bye, to be taken in the SuperDraft since the club’s founding 2016.

“Luke is a supreme talent, calm on the ball and with a sneaky physicality” – Jon Bisswurm, Co-Founder

Haakenson played college ball at Creighton University, a conveyor belt to the pros. Notable alumni include Brian and Brent Kallman and Ethan Finlay.

“Losing players to the professional ranks is a problem that we like to have” said head coach Matt vanBenschoten. “Especially a player like Luke who played with us, then played in USL2, and then came back to play with us. It shows the high-performance environment that we have built here and how we can help players elevate.”
