Former Minneapolis City player Isaac “Goose” Friendt, who burst onto the scene with the club as a teenager, suffered a catastrophic injury during a game with DePaul University. The injury and complications from surgery afterward turned into a spiral of pain that almost ended up with the 20-year old having his leg amputated. The 2020 U.S. Open Cup draw is in, and Minneapolis City will travel to SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, IL, former home of the Chicago Fire, to take on Chicago FC United in the first round. Midfielder Luke Haakenson, who featured for Minneapolis City in both the 2016 and the 2019 seasons, was taken today by Nashville SC in the fourth round of the MLS SuperDraft. The Maple Grove native is the second Crow, after Brandon Bye, to be taken in the SuperDraft since the club’s founding 2016.
