Introducing Mpls City Futures, a new program for players under 20 that is launching later this summer.
This one-of-a-kind player development initiative is part of the club’s mission to bridge the gap between youth soccer and adult soccer. The Mpls City Futures program is not a youth team. It is a new level of Minneapolis City SC that exists completely within the framework of the club. The objective is to nurture Minnesota’s promising young players for the future demands of college, pro, and professionally-amateur soccer.
“We’ve seen players elevate in our positive, high-performance environment and want to extend that opportunity to fully cover players as they move beyond youth soccer.” – Jeremiah Johnson
A detailed announcement of the program will be scheduled later this summer, with Club Members getting a first look at what is planned. Also, you can follow the Futures on Twitter: @mplscityfutures
“Members approved this effort about 20 months ago and since then we’ve worked to develop the plan, sharing it with the Member Board, and we’re excited to launch it.” – Dan Hoedeman
“City is only as good as the local talent, since we only use local players, so we’re committed to doing everything we can to help local players reach the highest level possible. We believe this is a way forward, for them and for us.” – Adam Pribyl
